Born and raised in Taiwan, Rou Wang came to the United States with her family in 2009. She began her filmmaking journey as an editor in school. Then took on as an assistant director alongside aspiring directors such as Linh Tran, Hannah Schierbeek, Craig Hard, and many more to name. Wang admires and looks up to them as filmmakers. While building these collaborative experiences, she is also on a path to carving stories with her intuition and perceptions.

Wang’s work often inspects and challenges the definition of sanities under a coated cultural lens, borrowing from and exposing both East Asian and Western culture to consolidate and shape into her own voice.

Wang’s work has reached through audiences within the U.S and internationally. Her most recent music video, SiS, screened in Bangkok, Thailand. Her 48HR film project, inhabitable, within the Chicago section, was a selected runner-up for best cinematography. Wang doesn’t believe in boxes and is constantly exploring whether through visual language, on paper script, or sensory invitation via sound or those evoked feelings that can’t be a single adjective description.

When she's not on set, Wang likes to go on walks with her dog or cook up some yums in the kitchen for love ones.
